Message from Father Ray Kelly

A post BGT 2018 Message:

From the Official Facebook Page

And in case you don't "Facebook":

Father Ray Kelly is feeling blessed.
Thank you so much for all the messages of support I've had since last night's semi-final. I am feeling fine.
I have been pondering Simon Cowell’s comments from the show when he was talking about the very positive feedback he had received to my singing "Everybody Hurts"
I can only say that for myself, the messages and emails I have received from strangers who, in their despair, have been touched by my singing and have found hope has been extraordinary.
That indeed is the greatest positive of all about my Britain's Got Talentjourney. To touch people's lives with my singing is indeed a privilege in my ministry. To make a difference through a talent I enjoy so much is a very special bonus.
I have been truly blessed. The whole experience of BGT has been amazing, and it is something I shall never forget.
A BIG THANK YOU to all the Britain's Got Talent team and a thank you to everyone who took the time and effort to vote for me. God willing, my singing journey carries on!
Fr Ray

Not a Dry Eye in the House! (or the BGT Audience) Father Ray Kelly Sings Go Rest High

Fr Ray Wows AGAIN!

With a glowing blue light behind him, a glorious choir backup and the blissful background of beautiful stained glass classical church windows, Father Ray Kelly brought tears to the BGT 2018 audience who could barely wait until the end to clamor and clap.
Fr Ray's rendition of Vince Gill's "Go Rest High" was so full of emotion that we're sure there was no dry eye in the house when he finished. Amazingly emotional, this song is always dedicated to Fr Ray's sister Regina who is now resting high after battling cancer. Fr Ray Kelly himself was emotional after the song and his voice resonated high against the choir background. A truly amazing performance!

The semi-finals of Britain's Got Talent

...are done and here is the official BGT video of Father Ray's audition, we hope the UK voted!!!

And here is a clip of the show with preview of Father Ray Kelly's performance and the clamorous aftermath:

Great Article on joe.ie

Huge congratulations are in order.Father Ray Kelly has made it through to the Britain's Got Talent semi-finals.
The 64-year-old priest from Oldcastle, Co Meath became a viral sensation in 2014 after his special cover performance of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah captured hearts across the country.
He auditioned for Britain's Got Talent earlier this year, where he left judges and viewers alike with his rendition of R.E.M's Everybody Hurts.

Simon Cowell even ended up calling it "one of my favourite ever auditions."
It looks like we'll be set to see a lot more of Fr. Kelly, as Saturday night's episode showed him getting through to the Britain's Got Talent semi-finals.
Before it was his turn to take to the stage, he was seen telling another contestant:
"I have visions of going back to my parish and telling them I got through to Britain's Got Talent.  It would blow their minds, you know."
Alongside three other acts, the Meath native waited to hear the verdict.
Amanda Holden was the one who got to deliver the good news, telling the performers: "Only on Britain's Got Talent could this line-up be possible. And we have come to a decision."
Turning directly to address Fr. Kelly, she said: "You better thank him upstairs, sir, because you're all through to the next round."
He will now join the other 34 contestants who were selected as well as the five Golden Buzzers acts, who have already secured their place in the live semi-finals.

Busy May for Father Ray Kelly, best of luck on BGT!

Britain's Got Talent Update

Always keep an eye on the official Facebook page for details! Rumor has it Father Ray is in London this week probably filming for BGT, maybe rehearsing with his voice coach, possibly giving interviews in radio and TV and assuredly enjoying a grand time.

For those who are not familiar with Britain's Got Talent contest in London, here is a summary of events to come. We wish Father Ray all the best of luck, we know he will be just absolutely wonderful. The video from the BGT audition has been viewed over 4 million times in a couple of weeks. Good luck shining in London Fr Ray!

Here is the upcoming Britain's Got Talent schedule:
The next showing on TV will be the revealing show when the 80 remaining artists that got 4 yesses (180 artists got 3 or 4 yesses ) but only 80 invited back for the revealing show. Those 80 were reduced to 40 artists on the revealing show which will go out on mid May, the week before the semi finals.
The semi finals are on a four night period May 28, 29, 30 and 31st of May and only two acts from each go to the final on Saturday 2nd June, at the Hammersmith Apollo Theatre in London.

 Another news bit

Here is a great article in the AngloCelt online:
http://www.anglocelt.ie/news/roundup/articles/2018/04/24/4155147-a-song-of-divine-inspiration/

The Body of the Article:
by Sean McMahon
Reporting from Oldcastle
The calm and tranquil setting that dominates the Parochial House in Oldcastle was a stark contrast on Monday evening to the glitz and glamour of the stage of the London Palladium and Britain’s Got Talent where local parish priest Fr Ray Kelly made a huge impression.
The parish priest has become an overnight international singing sensational after his audition was broadcast on ITV and TV3 last Saturday night. He is now the third favourite with the bookies to win the show outright - with odds of 10/1 - behind rival acts Rise and Marc Spellman. His popularity makes him a dead cert for the live semi finals.
Fr Ray’s rendition of REM’s ‘Everybody Hurts’ moved the audience to tears and earned him a standing ovation. His performance also prompted Simon Cowell to comment that it was one of his “favourite ever” auditions on the show; while all four judges put him through to the next round.
The Anglo-Celt visited Fr Ray Kelly in his home on Monday evening and, over cups of strong tea, the tired cleric had come right back down to earth after flying in from London a few hours earlier. He was fresh from his appearance on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ with Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.
The Celt also understands that he is likely to appear on the Late Late Show this Friday night.

Oldcastle parish priest Fr Ray Kelly went down a storm on last night’s Episode of Britain’s Got Talent with his audition prompting chief Judge Simon Cowell to say it was one of his “favourite” ever auditions on the show.Fr Ray Kelly (64) moved the audience first to tears and then to their feet with his rendition of REM’s ‘Everybody Hurts’. His performance earned him a resounding four big ‘yeses’ from the judging panel.Asked why he chose that particular song, Fr Ray said: “It’s a song that’s near and dear to my heart. I suppose being a priest, you get in touch with a lot of pain and joy and happiness as well so I feel it’s a song that I can relate to.”Responding to Simon as to why he entered the show, Fr Ray said: “I thought maybe I’d be the first singing priest to win Britain’s Got Talent.”Fr Ray is no stranger to Celt readers. The singing priest, as he is known locally, went viral four years ago when his performance at a wedding went viral. In April 2014, Fr Ray surprised a couple on their wedding day by singing a version of ‘Hallelujah’ from the altar. The video has been watched over 60 million times and resulted in a Late Late Show appearance.Check out Fr Ray’s audition here – which saw him progress to the next stage of the competition, the selection for the live semi finals.

Simon Cowell leads standing ovation for vicar with voice of an angel who moves Britain's Got Talent audience to tears in heart-wrenching audition

He was utterly moved y the vicar's beautiful performance of REM's Everybody Hurts which had the audience in tears
ByJenny Desborough
00:01, 21 APR 2018
TV
A vicar with a beautiful voice moved the audience to tears on Britain's Got Talent - and even stony-faced Simon Cowell led the standing ovation.
Father Ray Kelly, 64, a parish priest in Oldcastle, County Meath, in Ireland, said he decided to audition for the show when a film of him singing in church went viral on YouTube.

But no-one could prepare for what was to follow, as he performed a beautiful rendition of REM's Everybody Hurts, which he said was apt as, in his role as a priest, he is often bringing comfort to people.
There was not a dry eye in the house as he started softly, before letting rip in the chorus, evoking a huge reaction from the crowd.
Even he was emotional as he sang, and you could hear a pin drop as his vocal stylings came to an end.
But just when it seemed like silence would prevail, Simon stood up and began applauding the vicar, and he was quickly followed by his fellow judges and the entire auditorium.
Father Ray was visibly moved at this act, and tried to hold it together as the judges gave their verdict.
David Walliams said of his "beautiful" performance: "I've never seen a priest stand at a microphone and sing like that.
"You did it with such soul and passion - it just was a really, really beautiful performance."
Alesha Dixon added that his "soothing and calming" voice had people relating to things that were personal to them while Amanda Holden commented that "the whole congregation" was behind him.
Finally, Simon said his audition was one of his favourites ever, which clearly made the vicar incredibly emotional.
He said: "I wasn't quite sure what to expect to be honest with you, but I want to tell you this is one of my favourite ever auditions, I really mean that.
"I think your voice is beautiful, I love the version of the song; this is everything we have been waiting for."
As Father Ray walked offstage and told Ant and Dec he was an "emotional wreck."
Britain's Got Talent airs at 8pm on Saturday on ITV.

From the Facebook Page

"1st February, 2018. “ SPRING IS SPRUNG, THE GRASS IS RIZ, I WONDER WHERE THE BIRDIES IS “ Well it’s not quite like spring in Ireland yet as we are having some nice snowfalls and Biddy & Buddy love the snow.

Regina, my dear sis will have left us two years now on the 11th February. Needless to say her loss is still felt so deeply among all her family. My Dad Joe will have died 28 years on St Valentine’s Day 14th February. Mona & Joe we’re married on 16th February 1949.REST IN PEACE ALL MY DEAR ONE’S. Always forever in my thoughts and prayers."

New Year message from Father Ray Kelly

Happy 2018 everyone!

This beautiful message from the official Facebook Page:

2018 is almost upon us, so as we begin another new year, we take this opportunity that this new beginning affords all of us, as the limited and imperfect human beings that we are, to make another effort to reach whatever stage of perfection or imperfection that, with God’s help it is in us to reach.
Thank you all my friends for journeying with me during 2017 and, may I wish you all a very HAPPY NEW YEAR
