April 5th: A Most Memorable Date

The Beginning

Today is the anniversary of that day! Many of us watched the video of a humble priest from Oldcastle, Co. Meath Ireland belting out a magnificent version of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah with an even more magnificent voice. In the US Fox News' Megyn Kelly played the video with tears in her eyes and it was replayed by local news everywhere across the land. The world stopped to listen to a mesmerizing Father Ray Kelly and rightfully so and the hits continue on the original YouTube video to an astounding 48,5 million.

The Music

Since then Father Ray Kelly has signed a recording contract with Universal Music Ireland, delighted audiences across the globe with his voice and charm and recorded two CDs to spread his talent across the world. Where I Belong and An Irish Christmas Blessing are available through the links in the Shop tab of this blog. More on the tracks of the albums in a later post this week.

For now, here is Father Ray Kelly's post remembering this great day on his Facebook page:

So today is April 5th, my "Hallelujah" day when I sang at Chris and Leah O'Kane's wedding and all of the wonderful stuff...
